InventHelp’s INPEX 2014 was held June 18-20, at the beautiful David L. Lawrence Convention Center, in downtown Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. This was the 29th INPEX, which featured more than 1,000 inventions and new products on display for review.
This year’s keynote speaker was Maxine Clark, founder of Build-A-Bear Workshop®. Maxine spoke to inventors about the creation of Build-A-Bear Workshop from when the first store opened in 1997 in St. Louis to over 400 stores today.
Many exhibitors were “knocked out” by the opportunity to meet two-time heavy weight champion and Olympic gold medalist, George Foreman. Foreman hit the show floor Thursday afternoon with a rush of longtime, respectful fans. He took photos and engaged with everyone in line. Friday morning, Foreman gave an inspirational speech to a packed house.
“The investment for the show, including hotel and travel, was well worth it,” said Wayne Jones, exhibitor and inventor of Splash Paddy™. “The contacts and friends we made are invaluable.”
Another highlight of INPEX included private product searches and reviews conducted by various companies throughout the three day show. This year, the companies in attendance included Partsmaster, SkyMall, Schroeder and Tremayne, Stanley, Reckitt Benckiser, Retail Products Group, Hampton Direct, Plews & Edelmann and Danco.
Many media outlets were present at the show. Pittsburgh Radio station 1410 AM KQV, The Pittsburgh Business Times, Associated Press, and Digital Journal were among the news outlets that conducted interviews with Trade Show Director, Nicole Lininger. They also took the time to highlight various inventors and business attendees.
Exhibitors had the opportunity to attend the George Foreman Inventors University™ featuring presentations from industry experts such as Howard Lim, President of HOWCreative.com and Jeff Meltzer, President of Meltzer Media Productions, as well as many others. Topics included inventor-related subjects such as selling to retail, website development and direct response television.
INPEX concluded on Friday evening, June 20th, with the International Awards Ceremony held in the Spirit of Pittsburgh ballroom at the David L. Lawrence Convention Center. Jury, merit and special awards were given to inventors. The top three prizes went to:
• Grand Prix Second Runner Up ($2,000): Ching-Hsiang Hsu of Taiwan for the Eco-Friendly Electrolyte Gold Stripping Technology
