The wrist watch is a traditional accessory that still enjoys widespread popularity. This is true even in today's world, where small electronic devices that display time – such as a cellular phone or music player – can be found in the majority of people's pockets or purses. When you think of wrist watches and the manner in which the time is represented, the use of hands or a digital display probably comes to mind. The Zub ZenH wrist watch, from Nooka, does away with tradition and uses an ingenuous design to visually represent time.

At first glance, you might think that you are looking at a mere bar graph. Upon closer inspection, it is clear that the four bars displayed on Nooka's Zub Zen-H's face represent time. Reading the bars from the top down – as you would text – hours, minutes and seconds are graphically denoted. The top row corresponds to hours 1 through 6, the second row to hours 7 through 12, the third row to minutes 0 through 59 and the last row to seconds 0 through 59. Artist and designer Matthew Waldman is the creator of both Nooka and the Zub Zen-H wrist watch. He dreamed of the Zub Zen-H's unique patented design over a decade ago. In essence, time is a transitory concept. By expressing time in terms of mass and shape, Nooka timepieces are described by their creator as "a more intuitive way to view time."

Waldman is the founder of Berrymatch, an award winning New York-based graphic design firm with clients worldwide. He is also an instructor at the Parsons School of Design and the New York School University, both in New York City. Nooka is not a watch company; it is described as a design company in which "a line of watches just happens to be the first of a range of design products" that they plan to launch. Currently, Waldman is working on "Nooka lifestyle accessories" for home and body. The Nooka Zub Zen-H is the newest timepiece in Waldman's line of cleverly designed timepieces.

The Nooka Zub Zen-H is water resistant to 3 ATM and runs on a battery. Functions include alarm, chronograph, date and time. The Nooka Zub Zen-H comes in an array of colors, such as Lavender, Sky Blue, Deep Blue, Heather Gray, Glow-in-the-Dark and Fire Engine Red. It is available for purchase for $130.00 plus shipping from Nooka.com and includes a one-year warranty.
