Who doesn't like ice cream, especially in the summer? Unfortunately, when you're feeding it to kids (and sloppy husbands!) it can create a mess of sticky drips. Cold Stone Creamery – known for their ultra-decadent ice cream mixed by hand on chilled marble slabs with candy, fruit and sweet sauces – has come up with a solution to this dilemma. Just in time for summer, Cold Stone Creamery has announced their non-melting JELL-O Pudding Ice Cream.

Cold Stone's JELL-O Pudding Ice Cream does not melt, or at least not in the conventional sense. On a hot day, traditional ice cream will quickly evolve from its frozen form into a liquid. This ingenious stuff not only takes a lot longer to change from its frozen form, but when it does, it turns into pudding. The big taste difference with this ice cream is that is has the consistently of mousse in the mouth. And of course, as with Cold Stone's other super-rich base ice creams that come in a variety of tantalizing flavors, extra tasty ingredients can be mixed right into the ice cream on-the-spot.

The concept of using gelatin to slow the melting process in a frozen treat isn't new. Popsicle's Slow Melt line of icy pops have been around for a few years. However, combining gelatin and ice cream is an innovative concept. Tastemaster Ray Karam – yes, this is an honest-to-goodness and very important position within ice cream companies – states that, "It was my goal this year to develop not only a new great flavor but to also change the actual texture of ice cream. I experimented with dozens of ideas but it was the taste and texture of pudding I knew would really surprise ice cream aficionados."

Cold Stone's JELL-O Pudding Ice Cream is only available for a limited time. From now until July 28, 2009, you will be able to satisfy your ice cream urge with Butterscotch and Chocolate JELL-O Pudding Ice Cream. As with Cold Stone's other ice cream flavors, there are signature Cold Stone Creations and suggested mix-ins for each flavor. The Butterscotch Velvet Creation incorporates the Butterscotch JELL-O Pudding Ice Cream with Butterfinger, Reese's Peanut Butter Cups and Caramel. The Chocolate-y Goodness Creation melds Chocolate JELL-O Pudding Ice Cream with Peanut Butter, Cameral and Fudge. Vanilla and Banana Pudding flavors will also be available in select markets, so get to your nearest Cold Stone Creamery to enjoy this unique twist on a favorite summer indulgence.
