Today’s article is part three in the InventHelp Invention and Technology News series on summer inventions. Part one and part two both posted to the site last week.

While it’s nice to spend the summer relaxing, that’s about all it is: nice. Sometimes to experience the joy of summer, you have to go epic. Zen has its time and place, but to really blow out the month of August you need to bring the party and crank up the volume. Here are three tips for transforming your backyard into a Mecca of summer fun.

Tip #1: Get Wet
Nothing provides summer fun and cools off a hot day quite like a little bit of the wet stuff. Don’t have a pool? No worries - but you still need a grand water attraction to draw people in. How about Twin Water Slides? While not cheap at $499.95, this item will provide hours of outdoor fun on par with any water park. The twin slides are big and bold (sure to grab the neighbors’ attention), and they come with a power blower that make inflation a breeze. The slides have a sprinkler at the top for lubrication, a pool at the bottom for making a splash and attached water cannons for soaking sliders while you wait your turn. Great for beating the August heat, The Twin Water Slides will make sure everyone gets a little wet.

Tip #2: Jump Around
Keeping up with the backyard amusement park theme, there’s the Castle Bouncer ($599.99), a large and colorful invention that makes a perfect complement to the Twin Water Slides. Like the slides, the Castle Bouncer comes with its own blower for quickly and easily setting up your backyard palace. People can go inside the castle and jump up and down, bouncing on the base until they're blue in the face. The walls of the castle are made of netting so no one falls out, and the entrance/exit is a slide. Best of all, the Castle Bouncer includes an attached basketball hoop and a soft basketball for holding your own backyard dunk contests. Every great backyard party needs a way for people to get their bounce on.

Tip #3: Go Big
Generally speaking, “going big” involves wowing everyone – adults and kids alike – and making them never want to leave your backyard. A great way to achieve this is with the 144-Inch Inflatable Home Theater Kit. While its price is about the equivalent of the budget for an epic film ($1,699.99), the Inflatable Home Theater will make your house the place to be. When night falls, the whole neighborhood will flock to your backyard to watch some of the best summer films of all time (our recommendation - go Spielberg and please the crowd: “Jaws”, “E.T.”, “Jurassic Park”, “Raiders of the Lost Ark” and “War of the Worlds”). With an inflatable screen that measures a whopping 12 feet tall, this puppy will immediately pique the interests of neighbors three houses down. Along with the inflatable screen, the kit comes with a pair of 120-watt speakers with 8-inch woofers, a pump, volume control, audio cables, stability tie downs, ground stakes, ground cloth, a screen-repair kit and a nylon carry bag. What it does not come with is a high-definition projection – which you’ll also have to add to your summer party budget. But watching E.T.'s spaceship fly off into the summer night’s sky at your own personal drive-in may be worth it.

Though it’s sad to say, like the summer itself, our three-part series on warm-weather innovations has come to an end. It may be a ways away, but join us next year when the sun shines again on new summer inventions and technologies.
