ViewSonic has designed an overhead projector that has an interesting twist. The ViewSonic PJ258D ViewDock functions the same way in which a conventional projector does. However, what makes the ViewDock special is that it has an integrated video dock that allows you to project video straight from your iPod.

The ViewSonic ViewDock isn't just for work presentations. Having the freedom to use your iPod with a device that is often thought of as only a tool that you would use in the workplace opens up a whole new world of possibilities. The ViewDock allows you to watch movies and other videos without having to be connected to a PC. And you'll want to watch your favorite flick on this ingenious device, because the image quality is definitely not lacking. You can enjoy high quality images with the ViewDock's all digital clarity and 2,000 lumens. Lumens, in the case of a projector, is a measurement of brightness that comes from the device. With 2,000 lumens, you would clearly be able to see what is being projected even in bright ambient light.

ViewSonic boasts that the DLP (Digital Light Processing) technology that the projector uses produces razor sharp digital images. DLP technology incorporates the use of a chip that can contain up to 2 million microscopic mirrors that represent one or more pixels in the projected images. When you are talking image quality, the more pixels means the crisper the image quality.

While this projector emits large, sharp images, the ViewSonic ViewDock is actually small in size. Weighing only a little over 2 pounds, this is the perfect portable device to take to that important presentation or to tote over to a friend's place to watch a movie from your iPod. Not only can you dock and charge your iPod, but you can also connect your PC to the ViewDock. With RGB, S-Video, Composite and Component Video Inputs, it is possible to connect a DVD Player, game console and more to this versatile projector.

There are actually two RGB inputs, so when your presentation involves two different presenters with separate data sources, it's quick and easy to transition to the next person. Most projectors on the market require a cool down period before you can unplug the machine. With the ViewDock's direct off feature, you can finish your presentation and run, without having to wait for the projector to go through the process of cooling down. The direct off feature also helps to protect the life of the projector's lamp if the power goes out.

The ViewSonic PJ258D ViewDock comes with a 3-year limited parts and a 1-year lamp warranty. This warranty also includes a free Express Exchange service, within the first year of purchase. The ViewDock is available for purchase for $1,399.00 plus shipping from ViewSonic.com. Features include whisper mode, front and rear projection, optical zoom, wireless remote control, soft carrying case and progressive scan.
