To some people, the iPhone is the king no matter what the competition comes up with. However, the Samsung Galaxy S III may make even the most die-hard Apple fanatics turn heads. Here are 5 reasons why…
4.8-inch Super AMOLED Screen
The Galaxy S3’s screen gives it almost twice as much real estate as the iPhone’s 3.5 inch display. Reviewers say that the 4.8 inch screen is just the right size and that the resolution is comparable to the retina display. If you browse non-mobile webpages and watch movies on your smartphone, a bigger screen may be your calling.
The Galaxy is just 8.6mm thin and weighs just 133g. Although the iPhone’s gorilla glass gives it a premium feel, the Galaxy’s curve’s make it ones of the best looking Android phones. The “nature inspired” S3 reflects the “Designed for Humans” slogan that Samsung is using in its advertising campaigns.
The galaxy runs on the latest 4G LTE network and although AT&T claims 4G speeds for its iPhone 4S users, it’s actually running an up to date 3G network.
The 16GB, 32GB, and 64GB of the iPhone 4S costs $199, $299, and $399 respectively. The Galaxy S3 costs $199 for the 16GB version and $249 for the 32GB model from Verizon, AT&T, and Sprint. T-Mobile charges $249 for the 16GB and $329 if you want 32GB of storage. Aside from the Galaxy S3’s lower price points, it also allows you to put in a microSD card, which you can stuff with an extra 64GB and pay just $70 more for.
- Have you ever been texting a friend and just wanted to talk to him or her to get to the point? If you hold your ear next to your phone mid-texting, the Galaxy will call your friend for you.
- Galaxy’s near-field communications technology allows you to use Google Wallet. Although NFC technology is available in a hand full of stores it may soon be as common as Bluetooth and Wi-Fi.
- The Galaxy’s camera knows when you’re looking at it and won’t dim the screen while you are. If you’re using your iPhone without touching it, it will inevitably dim.
Although the Samsung Galaxy S3 beats the 9 month old iPhone 4S on certain features and is declared as the best smartphone you can get by some reviewers, Apple executives are not losing sleep over it. Apple has a wider selection of apps, an ecosystem which leads to an 80% retention rate for the iPhone, the world’s most valuable brand, and another iPhone that is expected to come out this October.
